Creating a textile pattern is often a case of computer manipulation. But I love to use my hands to guide me in pattern design. Below is an example of a class project. We were to select a country we visited, locate something that defined it, and create a pattern. I loved my trip to Guatemala and used an image of a woman weaving a lovely colorful fabric. This image served as a basis for sketches - abstracted shapes of the woman and the weaving machine - that I arranged on paper into various patterns to get a feel of how they would look later once I computerized them. Check out my shop for the complete Guatemala collection! |
