I love to read, travel, and observe. I find that curiosity about the world around us is a source of insight and learning. I turn these insights into paintings and capture them in my photos. I use the artwork to create textile patterns that mirror the incredible richness of our human experiences. All of my textiles have names and come with short stories of inspiration.
For instance, my grandmother's garden inspired me to design a print called In Bloom. Or, a glance at the ceiling at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC inspired me to create a pattern called Ceiling, which is all about looking up in life. Other inspiration? A trip to Guatemala, cats, rain storm, waves of the Chesapeake Bay, dinner party at a friend's house ... It's endless and it's endlessly exciting!
