My favorite element of this city is the layering of architectural styles. As you look up, you may see an art nouveau building entrance reflected in the facade of an ultra-modern glass covered skyscraper. Or, Gothic-inspired gargoyles may be right next to a church from the early 1900s.
The two photos exemplify the various styles right - I love the varying building heights, the array of windows, and the variety of roof styles. And the colors! Such richness - black, grey, brown, blue, green, white, orange ... Both of the photos were taken from the Museum of Modern Art. The upper levels offer a great view of the surrounding area.
