Every collection starts with inspiration and since I tend to resort to architecture for creativity, I decided to venture out to unknown waters. The focus was to be a culture, a feel of times, an attitude. I did tons of reading about hippies, their lifestyle, and beliefs. I read poetry and listened to music. I looked up photos and worked in my sketchbook and accumulated over 30 pages of research and design ideas.
Going for a relaxed, feminine, layered look, I came up with a Spring/Summer collection of separates: tops, shorts, pants, dresses, jackets, capes, and vests. The color scheme? Prints, prints, prints - in blue, green, pink, and black and white.
And now, off to a new collection - the 3rd and last one of the Spring semester at the Academy of Arts University.
