A wonderful workshop with Martina Sestakova that started with everyone sharing stories of joy and flowers and -- as always -- Martina reading a Mary Oliver poem about flowers that ended, "... 15 minutes of music, with nothing playing." Working with white watercolor paper, roughly torn pieces were curled, crumpled and then glued to a board topped with another white piece of watercolor paper. Once the white-on-white designs were complete, watercolor drips, drops, and strokes added details to the flower collage. Best thing about the workshop: Martina constantly encouraging everyone to remember that art is all about making decisions -- and you as an artist are free to make decisions that delight you without worrying about rules or how others might approach a project. Very joyful and inspiring!
