A lady came to my watercolor class excited to see a lot of her fellow retirement community residents in the art room. We tend to work with templates that the residents get to color so that they can focus on the technique rather than coming up with a new scene/topic. She was not interested in a template. She sat down and painted the class away! It was such a wonderful sight to see this lady in her 80s pick up the brush and observe the lady sitting across from her. Once she finished her portrait, she signed it and gave it to her friend! A delightful moment; that's why art matters ... it connects us.
