I am from the Czech Republic and recently saw an art exhibition featuring the Czech artist Jiri Kolar. I was so incredibly moved by his works at the Katzen Center at the American University in Washington, DC. His works inspired a class I just taught at the Kensington Row Bookshop as part of the series called "Let's Get Artsy with Words" (art workshops inspired by the power of words in our lives). My students had a blast! We flipped through magazines, cut out images, and created 'visual poems' using Kolar's techniques. Delightful!
