Stunning sculptures by Lisa Battle and vibrant abstracts by Suzanne Goldberg are highlighted at Studio Gallery in Washington, DC, March 29 through April 22, 2023. I am honored to curate these two exhibitions. What a lovely experience working with these artists and exploring ways to best showcase their artworks in the Lower Gallery at 2108 R St. NW in Washington, DC.
Lisa Battle presents a collection of sculptures in her Portals & Passages show. Lisa shares, "When referenced in myth and fantasy, a portal is often a gateway through which the viewer journeys from one world into another. This exhibition explores ideas around the permeable boundaries between seasons of our lives." Lisa and I arranged her sculptures in the show room to communicate relationships: colors, textures, shapes. I hope you pause in the space and enjoy the organic and geometric visuals Lisa has created. Check out a reel about the installation here.
Suzanne Goldberg is calling her show "Abstract Landscapes" and invites you to enjoy her painting inspired by Richard Diebenkorn’s landscapes. Suzanne explored colors and flattened area. Pause in front of each piece and let these vibrant studies invite you in. Suzanne and I displayed her painting in groupings highlighting how they relate in colors and some of the shapes Suzanne utilized to communicate landscapes. Check out a reel about the installation here.
