In my “Embodiment” series, I focus on the body’s capacity to always reside in the present while our minds relive the past or imagine the future. There is energy in these paintings: layers, scrapes, twists and turns. Just like there is energy in our body’s sensations. It’s a chaotic process: many steps that can be easily erased as I work on a non-porous paper. But it’s also a truly exciting process and one of constant change as the only driving force is what my body’s messages are in the particular moment.
